Hi folks, its time for another installment of RATE MY SCAN TOOL. Unfortunately, this will not be a positive endorsement. Over the last several years, we have purchased several Hanatech UltraScan diagnostic tools. These tools have proven to be an asset up until the time our vendor we used started having trouble getting us updates for this device. Two years later, we are finally going to get these very expensive tools updated!
One thing you will learn as you read my postings about various tools is that updating is a very important feature to a diagnostic tool owner, as well as coverage, functionality and quality. For over two years now, we have not been able to get corrupted memory issues resolved and updates for Hanatech diagnostic tools from the people we bought these units from. We have finally secured the ability to get updates for our diagnostic tool, after 2 years of working with an outdated unit! That's the good news. It was only after posting about the difficulties I had with Hanatech's products that I got the attention of the company directly.
Finally, after years of waiting, we are told that we will finally get our units fixed and get updates! Just think.it only took two years and a posting on Ebay to, hopefully, get our Hanatech Ultrascan units functional and updated. This company sent some person out here to respond to my posting and say that I work for some other company and posted my issues because of it. This is absolutely not true and a complete fabrication! Companies like Hanatech use dealerships around the world to sell their products and who are supposed to provide support to their customers with Hanatech products.
When Hanatech leaves their vendors hanging, they leave their customers hanging by proxy. I am simply one single guy who spends good money to purchase diagnostic tools and equipment to do my job. From time to time, vendors ask me to test and critique equipment they are thinking about selling. I take no money or receive any compensation for my reviews and guides. I simply tell what I know and share my experiences. It is always interesting when a person who represents himself as a 'sales manager' says things that are simply not true just because he thinks they are without any facts at all! This was very unprofessional. When I come out here and express issues, it is because I have experienced these issues first hand!
What motivation do I have for expressing negative experiences I have had with a piece of equipment or a company? How would any of you like it if you gave a review on your personal experiences on a piece of equipment that you bought, and some person from that company came out here, butted into YOUR blog, harassed you and started making up things and trolling your blogs as a platform to discredit the experiences you, yourself had with their company and products. It is unprecedented in my experience! Of course, here in the United States, we are blessed with the right of free speech and freedom of expression. Sometimes, I wonder if the person who calls himself 'Nate' or 'Park' or whatever his name is from Hannatech thinks that the rules in Korea regarding freedom of speech apply here in the United States. As you can clearly see by the numerous responses below by a person who represents himself as a sales manager for Hannatech, we can see what the real problem is. Despite multiple attempted contacts with Hannatech over the last 24 months directly to resolve problems with their product, they come out here, where people, in an open forum of free speech, attack, make demands, flat out lie, and act like an obnoxious child having a temper tantrum.

Is this the type of people who you want to do business with? I have been very open and clear about what my issues with my multiple Hanatech units have been, but yet, he persists in harassing lying and asking questions that have already been asked and answered! This is the problem with this company! They simply do not know how to do business in North America! They assume the same type of obnoxious and demanding behavior is how you treat customers here in the United States who have spent thousands of dollars on their products.

Instead of using the forum to be helpful and assist A COUSTOMER who once spoke VERY highly of their product, and encouraged others to buy their product, and owns SEVERAL of their products, and is about to drop almost $2000.00 to get their products fixed and back in service, he uses this forum to attack, lie, demean and harass their customers! I think anyone who sees the ridicules and pathetic exchanges in the comments section below will have to agree that these folks do not seem to have ANY sense of how customer service and support and do not know how to behave like mature adults. You are free to do whatever you like with regard to your Hanatech products, but as it stands, we are going to get these units fixed, likely offload them, and go purchase some equipment from a company who appreciates our business, knows how to communicate, and above all else, values the concept of customer loyalty. I strongly recommend that you take a look at some of the other units out there being produced by companies that meet and surpass the important qualities of the Hanatech product, while maintaining respectful support to its paying customers. Some of the units I have been using that meet or well exceed the performance, coverage, ability to update and above all else, get service for, include I-Scan from Autoland, Magniti Marelli, G-Scan by GIT, and many others that offer a great, high quality product, AND stand behind it and don't treat you like a jerk on your own blog for giving an opinion.
Added For those of you who have become disenchanted with your Hanatech Diagnostic tool like I have, Magniti Marelli is offering a great trade in incentive for folks to give up their Hanatech unit and get one of their diagnostic tools. Magniti Marelli comes in 3 different platforms including a PC based model, a tablet based model and a stand alone unit with a scope. This was great news for me as I have really become disgusted with, not only the update issues I have been having, but as you can see by the responses, the complete lack of support, good information these folks provide, plus the very rude and obnoxious behavior of their salespeople. There are a few vendors of Magniti Marelli in North America, and the software within their tool for North American cars is really strong and comprehensive. It is a fairly new tool as well so the platform is not going to be phased out any time soon. And before our friend from Hanatech starts his crying, I DO NOT work for Magniti Marelli! Added So after a few weeks after getting our Hannatech diagnostic tools updated we have discovered some interesting things.
First, if I were working on SsangYong, Great Wall or a few other cars that I would NEVER see in North America, I would be one happy camper. Unfortunately, if You are hoping to get updates for most American cars and a lot of popular Asian cars and a good chunk of European cars, FORGET IT! There IS NO UPDATED SOFTWARE FOR NORTH AMERICAN CARS! Just like we suspected, a few obscure car lines got updated software, and all of the popular brands are using the same software up to 08 in many cases.
As if this were not enough, we are not able to get our tools to connect with HostPro software or their update server. We tried it on multiple computers, with multiple operating systems and even sent our units back to the vendor we got them from, and BUPKIS!
We attempted to contact Hannatech to find out why HostPro is not working, and we cant get our tool connected to it, and all we got was the run around! So basically, for $800 bucks per tool, we got updated software for some obscure cars we would NEVER work on and got absolutely nothing for the cars that the REST OF THE WORLD work on.
All the smoke that this clown from Hanatech has been blowing about updates being available is a veiled attempt to help vendors who are stuck with their obsolete diagnostic tools on the shelf sold before they jerk the rug out from under us and leave us holding the bag.
