I just recently puchased a new computer that runs windows7 Pro. Pirate king. I installed C&C Generals and Zero Hour without a problem. However when I play Generals in campaign mode, when I get to the end of the first scenerio it does not continue.
All I get is a message that I'm victorious and do I want to play it over again. There is no continue button. In skirmish mode I get about 30 secs into the game and my base blows up.
I've turnd the speed down without any luck. Still the same problem. Mortal kombat game direct for windows 7. Anybody ever heard of this problem? I using a Digital storm PC with 2 Nvidia 275 video cards. Zero Hour plays fine in both campaign mode and skirmish. I'm at a loss. I've tried every compatibilty feature I could think of without any luck.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Hi Warvet68, Sorry for late reply.
Based on my research, you can download C&C General patches from the following link: Please note: we provide the third party link to download patches for technical use only. There may be some changes without notice, Microsoft doesn’t guarantee any accuracy on contacting information.
Meanwhile, to check the version of the drivers on your system, you can check the driver properties in Device Manager. 1) Click Start and type: devmgmt.msc in the Search box. 2) Expand Display adapters and right click Nvidia 275. 3) Click Properties and click Driver.
Then, you’ll see the information such as Driver Version, Driver Date and Driver Provider. Best Regards Dale. Hi, notes that C&C General and Zero Hour is compatible with Windows 7. The reason that you can’t run this game can be related to the video driver. Please download the latest video driver from the following NVIDIA site: Please note: we provide the 3rd party link to download relevant driver for technical use only. BTW, I would like to share the following similar issue and recommend you to post in for support as well.
Best Regards Dale. Didn't know there were any updates for this game.
I just purchase it so I assumed that this was the latest version. As far as compatibility mode goes, I tried them all. I have another computer that runs XP sp2 and the game works fine there so I tried to copy those settings but without luck. I ran it as admin.
And without; I ran in Vista mode and XP sp3 as well as sp2 with same problem. I thought maybe there was some kind of patch out there. I haven't been able to find anyone else with this type of problem. Most people are having install problems.
Both Generals and Zero hour installed without a hitch. Zero hour play beautifully, but Generals has got me puzzled. Can you give me more info on these updates? Much appreciated.
Maybe I'm assuming to much, but I just received my pc within the past month from DS. I figured that the latest NVIDIA drivers would have been installed. What is strange is that all the other versions of c&c seem to play ok, Red alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge.
I have them set like my other computer, at XP sp2. Haven't had a problem of any kind. Like I said in the original question, the game seems to play fine until I end the scenerio of any campaign than it asks me if I want to replay, not continue. And the skirmishes almost looks like a settings problem, but I'll be darned if I can find any setting that coincides with this function. Is there any way of finding out what the latest drivers are on my system? I'd hate to install something that I already have. Thanks for your assistance Warvet68.

Game starts fine, but afther several seconds playing skirmish my base blows up. I've noticed it happens just afther i built a radar showing oponent's base, or when unit of any kind reach oponent's base and see what is in it.
I've installed latest graphic card drives (Mobile Intel 945 Express Chipset Family) and started game in WinXP SP3 compatibility mode and turned off aero and desktop compositions. Lastest patches for C&C Generals and Zero Hour have been installed and problem still appears. When I've used Windows XP SP3 everything worked fine. Now I am working on Windows 7 Pro. I will be grateful for any kind of help. Thanks, HannibalKing. I have a similar problem.

I will be grateful for any kind of help. Thanks, HannibalKing I am experincing the exact same issue except that I don't get to bulid anything more then a couple of construction dozers and a power plant before my base blows up. I checked the posted link for the C&C 1.09 patch; it appears to be for Tiberium Wars not Zero hour. According to the built in patches check with the game I have all available patches. The game runs perfectly on my laptop with Windows XP SP3 installed but I would really like to run it on my desktop with the larger screen. The hardware I am using is: Intel Core2 Quad CPU (Q9650); 4GB RAM; Intel GMA X4500 Graphics running Windows7 Pro(64).
I offer thanks in advance to anyone who can offer a solution to this problem. In 'My Documents' (usually at C: users YOURNAME documents) there should be a folder named 'Command and Conquer Generals Data' or 'Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data', which was put there when you installed the game.
You need to create a text file using notepad and save it into this folder. However, you must click 'save as' and change the type drop-down box from text file (.txt) to 'all files'.
Lately, we received quite a bunch of calls for help how to run CCG on Windows Vista 64-bit properly. So, here's an answer for all those who are still having troubles! Installation Install your CCG as usual and follow the instructions on your screen or manual which you find in your CCG Box. No problems should occure. If they still do, create a new topic and ask for help. Before running CCG Search in your system folders for the Command & Conquer Generals folder.
Most likely, the path will be 'C: Programs (x86) EA GAMES Command & Conquer Generals '. Search then for the application 'generals.exe', right click on it and choose the last option 'Properties' (doing the same with the shortcut file of CCG on your desktop has the same effect). Go ahead with choosing Compatibility in the card index. Next to do is enabling Compatibility Mode for 'Windows XP (Service Pack 2)' as well as 'Execute progam as administrator'.
To confirm your requested actions click now 'Apply'. After having done so, don't forget to 'Apply' so your requested changes are saved. Now, double click on your downloaded patch file and allow Windows Vista 64-bit to execute it. When the message occured that everything is installed correctly, you can now finally start your CCG. Running CCG We're almost done, there's only one step left!
As you might see, the CCG menue is already in 1.8 style when you click on Options. Nevertheless, the game still displays there 'Version 1.0'.
All you have to do now is clicking on Multiplayer, then Online. Your game will now tell you that there's a newer version of CCG available and requests you to confirm the download. Accept this request and click Ok. After downloading this patch in-game, your CCG will automatically shut down and execute the downloaded patch. Immediatly a textdocument, the well known 'Read me' file, will be opened sharing all the changes done by this downloaded patch.
Close this textdocument and wait until the game starts automatically again. Now, check if everything is fine by clicking on Options and examine your game version.
One of the greatest real-time strategy games of all time, C&C: Red Alert brings a sci-fi twentieth-century conflict into the C&C mix. According to the background story, Albert Einstein invents a time machine and kills Adolf Hitler to prevent WWII. Soviet leader Joseph Stalin, however, launches a full-scale attack with advanced Mammoth tanks, Tesla coils, and V2 rocket launchers. Red Alert is intentionally unbalanced. The Soviets have more powerful infantry, tanks, artillery, aircraft, and defensive towers.
The United States and Western Europe have only a couple strengths: warships and 'smart' units such as medics and mine-layers. Great music tracks, an excellent control system, good-looking graphics (by mid-'90s standards), and superb gameplay make C&C: Red Alert a classic.
Former C&C fanatics will shed a nostalgic tear after launching this small demo, but first they'll have to make sure they have Windows 95/98, since the installer won't run on Windows XP or Windows 2000. From Command and Conquer, one of the most popular strategy games in recent memory, is back and bigger and badder than ever with Red Alert. The story takes place in an alternate stream of history, around the time of World War II.
In this version of world history, World War II never happened, and Hitler was nothing more than a minor annoyance. The real threat here is something hundreds of times worse than Hitler could ever have been: Joseph Stalin. The Soviet Empire is killing its way through.
Towns are falling and countries collapsing before the overwhelming might of the forces. Does anyone stand a chance, or will the Red Menace engulf all of Europe? New features include improved AI, new game units and structures, a Skirmish mode, and a detailed, interweaving story line.
Vista 64, 4 GB, 6 GB swap, Quad core, more than one hard drive. Vista is installed for 4 month, works well enough so I won't go back to XP. Two month ago I saw superfetch precaching unneeded file for bootup, making the bootup process slower, so I changed in the registry 'EnableSuperfetch' to 2, (= boot files only), which helped by that time. At the 30 of December I saw (using perfmon.exe and boottrace) it prefetching 'Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour' and 'Supreme Commander' files BEFORE logon, and rattling on the harddrive DURING logon on those files instead of taking care of Virus Scanner, Realtek-Audiomanager etc. My Autostart part is very clean, there are not even icons on my desktop for those two games. I did not use som strange 'Vista Optimizer' tools, everything I changed was under my own control.
Command & Conquer Generals Download
What I saw in perfmon (after logon): svchost.exe (LocalSystemNetworkRestricted) accessing 'G: Supreme Commander' + 'G: Command & Conquer The First Decade Command & Conquer(tm) Generals Zero Hour', all subdirectories, not linear, multiple files at the same time. Those two add up to about 9.7 GB, more ram than I have (real + swap make up 10 GB). So, Superfetch worked fine for first two month, then I had to restrict it to 'boot files only', and now two more month later Superfetch runs HAVOC precaching Gamedata files before logon, trying to precache 9.7 GB of data. The Superfetch service is set to 'manually' now, but I would like to reenable it.
Command & Conquer 2013 Video Game
If it works the way as expected it is great, but how can I configure more precisely what is is allowed to precache during boot and what not? Where is the information stored what files to precache? Why does it even with 'superfetch=2' precaching files like: 'G: Supreme Commander gamedata.scd' = 1.93 GB. 'G: Supreme Commander movies.sfd' = 2.3 GB etc etc etc (lots of examples). Please help, Superfetch worked so fine, but now it runs amok, even when I start the service manually it does again do the same stupid thing, reproducable.
Hi Set, I just wanted to verify that you changed both EnableSuperfetch AND EnablePrefetcher as your original post indicated that you had only changed one key (EnableSuperfetch) and had not changed EnablePrefetcher. No harm done, since I work in the computer department I understand why you ask so specific, there is often a difference between what the user says and what he did.
Do you know where superfetch stores it's information? My current info / trace is that it is five files: C: Windows Prefetch AgAppLaunch.db ^^ contains some readable string, including supreme command and C&C C: Windows Prefetch AgGlFaultHistory.db ^^ contains unreadable data except for 'MEMO' at the beginning. C: Windows Prefetch AgGlFgAppHistory.db ^^ contains unreadable data except for 'MEMO' at the beginning.
C: Windows Prefetch AgGlGlobalHistory.db ^^ contains unreadable data except for 'MEMO' at the beginning. C: Windows Prefetch AgRobust.db ^^ contains some readable string, including supreme command and C&C When I delete those files while the service is stopped superfetch behaves 'normal' again, Vista ist fast. I suspect it will do it for a few weeks until it runs havoc again, then I have to kill those files again.
This is not a good solution, but a working one, I hope MS has already adressed this in SP2 or in a hotfix so superfetch does not run havoc or we have more control over its fetching parameters (i.e. Which drives / directories to include or exclude, either via cmdline/powershell tool or a.mmc).
